Why should I go?
And the master said to the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled (Luke 14:23).
The Lord of the church has given us a very specific commission (Matthew 28:18, 19).
As members of that body of believers we are to follow through by going into the entire world preaching and teaching the excellent news of Jesus Christ with the His miracles in tow (Mark 16:15 & Luke 24:46).
The awe-inspiring needs call for your personal involvement as couriers of the everlasting gospel. To wit, everyman, everywhere is required to acknowledge the mercy and grace of Jesus Christ and call upon that holy name in order to receive forgiveness of sins(Acts 4: 12&17: 30). We all must persuade the nations earnestly.
When Jesus gave the command to go out and evangelize humanity he was speaking to individuals and not to some ethereal group of converts. He was speaking directly to the apostles and these orders were in turn handed down to us over the successive generations. Yet, even though two thousand years has transpired the weight of the words is not at all diminished. Believe it or not we have all been commissioned by Christ Himself to be His personal envoys of grace.
Now, you might say: Im not cut out for all of that going abroad stuff. Well, Awestruck would respond by answering: Are we not the manifest light of Christ in a darkened world? Are we not the ambassadors of the Prince of Peace who seeks to reconcile all men to Himself through our feeble efforts (Colossians 1:20 & Ephesians 2:14, 15)?
Dont misunderstand us. Awestruck does not advocate that all Christians are called into foreign missionary endeavors but rather that all saints can and should be deeply involved in the messenger process.
Many saints will unite with Awestruck for short term work on the fields of harvest; others will join us by entreating our Redeemer on their knees with earnest prayer and still others will join us financially and yet all are vitally important components in the machinery of compelling the lost to turn to our Great God and Savior. Consider and act upon your personal role of being a messenger of the Gospel of Christ, our Lord.
How Can I Go?
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1: 8).
Missions often conjures up images of one venturing into the impenetrable thickets of Sulawesi or of one trekking into the bleak and barren backcountry Mali clothed in white linen cargo gear and a pith helmet. But, believe it or not being a messenger of the Most High God is not a matter of changing ones geographical position on the compass of the globe. Being a missionary starts as we cross over the threshold of our own front door and works its way ever outward.
Missions or being a messenger is not entirely all about evangelism nor is that exclusively the work of Awestruck Ministries. Of practical necessity the work of Christ necessarily goes well beyond that all important and elemental decree. It is the lack of good medicine, dirty drinking water and the widespread illiteracy in so much of the underdeveloped world that likewise demands personal involvement from every love your neighbor as yourself conscious saint.
A fresh approach to missions is Awestrucks motto for a very good reason. We challenge the archaic perception of being a solitary messenger for the cause of Christ. We encourage missions at home, we likewise thrive on international partnerships, and we implore youth groups, college students, adults and families units to take on a vital role in the missionary endeavors of our Glorious One.
The genuine necessities of our churches, here and across international borders, testify to the considerable urgency for additional messengers to get involved for the long haul. The messenger is resisted on many fronts. He is opposed by satanic forces, economic hardships, nationalistic pride and religious rigidity but the Spirit teaches those who go how to implement special efforts and apply new approaches in order to birth sustainable churches in healthy environments.
We, here at Awestruck, perceive that the intellectual brilliance, the great wealth and the collective energies of Christendom have not been adequately mined. Surely you have something to offer Him. Lets not leave the assignment of Acts 1: 8 to a handful of saints. Question is: Will you be called to action or will you remain that arm chair messenger?
